Dear Mr. Jeffs:
I have previously sent you and three others a letter requesting help in the matter of collecting property taxes in Hildale nd Colorado City. I have not yet had a response to any of the four identical letters that I sent.

As the head of the FLDS Church and the leader of the people I am asking you for help. I had heard earlier this year that the FLDS were instructed not to pay property taxes unless they personally received a notice to pay or face eviction.

Regardless of whether any such aforementioned instructions came from you or from one of your subordinates (maybe there were in fact no instructions issued and people just reacted to the situation) I know that if you asked the FLDS people to properly and expeditiously pay their property taxes to their respective counties, it would happen. It appears to me that the FLDS people listen to your instructions in all things.

As I explained in my previous letter, posting individual notices on every house in the community causes the police to be involved, it causes unnecessary expense to the UEP Trust, and sometimes causes confrontations between the individual doing the posting and residents of the community. I see no practical benefit from either the FLDS side or from the UEP side in handling property taxes in such manner.

However, if I am again forced to have each and every home in the community posted with a notice to pay property taxes or face eviction, I intend to pass the cost of such process on to those that occupy each property. A separate collection assessment will be added to each property tax calculation. While I have again made arrangements for each county to receive the property taxes from the residents directly, the assessment collection will have to be paid to the Trust. I have a UEP Trust PO Box where such payments can be sent. I sincerely hope such efforts will not be needed.
