| About theHOPEorg.org | |
HOPE's web site provides educational information and news reporting on matters related to polygamy practiced by Fundamentalist Mormons living in areas such as the Utah/Arizona Strip communities of Hildale/Colorado City and Centennial Park; the Idaho/Canada border communities; Eldorado, Texas (in addition to Lockney, Texas); Mancos, Colorado (in addition to Crawford, Delta, Montrose, Wetmore, Westcliffe, Penrose and other Colorado communities) and the Pringle, South Dakota polygamous compound. Many influential members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS) polygamous group also moved to Mesquite and the Las Vegas area in Nevada. They have a large 3-4000 acre alfalfa hay farm in Pony Springs, north of Pioche on Highway 93 and the lucrative Western Precision moved to Las Vegas and became Newera Manufacturing. And there are probably many more properties and "houses of refuge" we don't even know about. People have reported seeing many FLDS members driving vehicles with Oklahoma license plates. Our web site offers true stories of some of the victims of polygamous abuse, current and past events in the news regarding the issues surrounding these secretive "closed" societies, and a portal to contact elected officials to voice your opinions about these matters. These media articles provide information and news reporting on events and issues affecting the victims we serve. They are posted on our web site under the "Fair Use" rule in section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976 and are intended for non-profit educational and/or research purposes only. Under Utah Code (76-5-401.2) a person 10 years or more the senior of a sexual partner that is 16 or 17 years old is committing unlawful sexual conduct, a third degree felony. It is believed that, in many instances, the men marrying the underage girls are at least that much older. Your tax-deductible donation to The HOPE Organization will help us offer support, protection, assistance, refuge and hope for the women and young adults (both boys and girls) who have been kicked out or have chosen to leave this lifestyle. Your contribution would be greatly appreciated; your generosity will help change people's lives!
The HOPE Organization is a non-profit group dedicated to assisting survivors of abuse within polygamous relationships on their courageous journey to personal freedom.
